At All Seniors Care we’ve been supporting older adults in seniors housing for more than 20 years and we’ve learned that much can be planned, even if the need for a move comes when you’re least expecting it.
One of the best pieces of advice we can share is to look for today, while keeping the future in mind. Although no-one has a crystal ball, it’s fair to assume that as we age, we may need more support. At All Seniors Care, we provide true aging-in-place communities, meaning that we offer full independent living through to higher-care assisted living and dedicated memory care, with nursing staff on site at all times. This is especially important as it means you don’t have to move again if your needs change. We have many ladies and gentlemen who move to our homes as fully independent residents, where they enjoy a robust calendar of events, our extensive amenity spaces and first-class cuisine prepared by our executive chefs. We also have couples who move together, where one partner needs more assistance, and we’re able to support each one’s individual needs. Moving to retirement living doesn’t mean any loss of independence or autonomy; moreover, it often means greater peace of mind as you have more freedom to live the way you want, with support available when you need it.
Our next piece of advice is to remember that the whole building is your home, not just your suite. We speak with many older adults who say they can’t see themselves in a one or two-bedroomed apartment when they’ve lived in a four-bedroom house for 50 plus years. Far from downsizing, moving to community living is often upsizing! Your suite is there for sleeping, personal hygiene and any quiet time you need, but it’s not to stay in 24/7. Across All Seniors Care, our homes are your home! This includes sipping a morning coffee in our Bistro or curling up with a book in our fireside lounge; enjoying a balmy breeze on the patio or walking one of our many landscaped paths. It’s also a leisurely swim in our heated saltwater pools, followed by chair yoga in the gym and an a la carte lunch with new friends in our beautiful full-service dining rooms.
We’re incredibly proud of the thoughtful design and functionality that has gone into our stunning apartments, which boast kitchenettes with top-of-the-line cabinetry and finishes, and huge, fully accessible bathrooms. Each unit is a blank canvas for you to make your own, and we take care of all your meals, your utilities and weekly housekeeping as part of our included services. When you’re looking at suite options, truly think about how much time you’ll be spending in your room and whether you need to bring the huge bureau from the office or Great Aunt Margaret’s tea set from the 1950s. Chances are you don’t, and again, we speak from experience seeing so many new residents ‘freed’ from a lot of stuff they have at home which they don’t need anymore.
Our final piece of advice is to see as much of a prospective home as you can, and don’t be shy. Stay for a meal or an activity, and don’t hesitate to visit at different times of day to see how the atmosphere changes. At any of our communities, you’re always welcome to stop by for a chat and to meet our Lifestyle Director, Executive Director and Director of Care. We want you to feel comfortable asking questions and to clearly understand our philosophy of care and what sets us apart. Feeling confident in a residence’s leadership and care team is very important as they become your go-to partners once you move in.
We’d love to show you everything that All Seniors Care has to offer and you can pop in at any of our residences during our ‘Home for the Holidays’ Open Houses from 26-31 December (11am to 3pm). If you’d prefer a personal tour, reach out directly to any home’s Lifestyle Director to schedule your best day and time.
We can’t wait to welcome you home!
